Summer 2008 Camps (June 2-3 and June 4-5)
Two 2-day all-skills camps for 3rd-9th graders (fall grades) will be held June 2-3 and June 4-5 at Desert Vista H.S. located at 16440 S. 32nd Street in Phoenix (south of Chandler Blvd. and west of 32nd St.) There will be 2 independent sessions. All camps run from 8:30-12noon each day. We will work on passing, setting, hitting, serving and defense. We will incorporate different drills for these skills each session so if you want to attend both 2-day sessions you can continue individual and partner work on the same skills by utilizing different drills. You can sign up for one or both sessions. See the Camps page for more details.

EVJ athletes invited to USA Volleyball High Performance Camps
Congratulations to the following EVJ players for being invited to the USA Volleyball High Performance Teams/Camps. Here are links to the HP selections:

Haley Lawless selected to USAV HP Youth A2 Camp
Congratulations to Haley Lawless from the EVJ 16-1 team for being selected to the 2008 Girls Youth A2 National High Performance Camp/Team which is for girls born in 1992 and 1993. Haley was one of 50 players selected out of 1381 who tried out at 30 locations across the US. She will attend a 6-day camp and 5-day International tournament in Tucson in July. The International tournament will consist of regional HP teams and a few from countries like Canada, Slovenia, Puerto Rico, etc. Haley has been with AZ East Valley Juniors for six years, starting when she was in third grade.
EVJ Teams Qualify for USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships (Qualified Teams)
Congratulations to the
18-1 and
16-1 teams for qualifying for the
2008 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships in Dallas, Texas at the end of June (18's) and beginning
of July (16's).
The 18-1 team finished
in 2nd place in the AZ National Club Qualifier which gives them an entry into the American Division at the Junior Olympic Championships.
The 16-1 team finished in 1st place
which gives them an entry into the National Division at the Junior Olympic Championships.
