EVJ 13/14 Players are invited to sign up for specialty positional training led by Myles Gabel. Please sign up for one session only and you must sign up to attend.

The following teams will be playing in this tournament: February 12: Indoor and Outdoor Training Sessions with Todd Rogers and Matt Sonnichsen
Todd Rogers, gold medalist in 2008 Olympics and current World Champion on FIVB tour, along with Matt Sonnichsen, former DI college coach and USA National Team member and AVP Pro, will be running a clinic at Court One on Sunday, February 12. The morning session is from 9:00-11:30am and the afternoon session is from 1:00-3:30pm. East Valley Juniors Volleyball Club players can sign up through this link at no charge. You must sign up to attend. The morning session will emphasize indoor skills and the afternoon session will emphasize outdoor skills.

East Valley Juniors is proud to congratulate EVJ 18 Mizuno Head Coach Joe Hesse as the Div I 5A State Champion Head Coach of the Gilbert Tigers and to announce the addition of Jim Kann (current Basha H.S. Head Volleyball Coach with 25 years of high school volleyball coaching experience) to our 18’s program and the EVJ family. Coach Kann will assist Coach Hesse with the 18 Mizuno team. Congratulations Joe and welcome to EVJ Jim! The Gilbert Tigers beat Horizon in a hard fought 5-set match on November 7th.
Congratulations to EVJ coach Tiffany Berge for her Div III 3A State Championship with Seton Catholic.
Congratulations to EVJ coach Leslie Cole from Seton Catholic who set the team to a 3-0 win over Catalina in the Div III 3A State Championship. Congratulations to all the EVJ players who participated in the state tournament! Semi-final and final match videos are available at www.aia365.com. Concussion EducationWith the blessing of the NFL, the state of Arizona passed a concussion law that was signed into law last April. As a result all athletes and their parents must be educated in the signs, symptoms and what to do if you have a concussion. Coaches must also be trained regarding the same. In order to use school facilities for our programs and our tournaments we must comply with this new law. As a result the Arizona Region requires that each parent and player read their respective CDC Fact Sheet on Concussions and sign an Acknowledgement Form indicating they understand the signs, symptoms and what to do if they think they have a concussion. The Acknowledgement form is to be turned in to EVJ. EVJ Coaching AdditionsEast Valley Juniors is proud to announce the addition of Myles Gabel (former collegiate coach for USC, New Mexico State, and San Diego State) and Teri Schroeder (former Collegiate All-American and women’s professional indoor and outdoor setter) to our 13/14-under program and EVJ family. Myles will be the Master Coach for the 13/14 age-group and in charge of training the athletes in a college-prep style. Teri will head the top 13-Mizuno team as well as help run the college-prep setters’ specialty training at EVJ. Welcome Myles and Teri!

Thank you to all of the families who donated to the Sperry Residence garage sale and to all of the individuals who helped make the garage sale a huge success last Saturday. What an amazing turnout! Thank YouThank you to all of the people at Court One on Saturday, March 5th, who came to the aid of one of our EVJ grandfathers. Certainly the quick and professional action of several individuals and the community as a whole saved a life. Mr. O'Dell underwent double bypass surgery on Tuesday afternoon and is doing very well. "Grandpa" has two granddaughters playing at EVJ and has been in the volleyball community for many, many years! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all who stepped in!
